I can't give away all the recipes from my FROST BITE book but this recipe is available publicly on the internet (here) because a few years ago I cooked it with Pete Evans on "Fresh", a cooking show on Channel 9 in Australia. So here it is for you to enjoy:
4 Mars Bars
/ Milky Way bars (enough to add up to 240g/9 oz), roughly chopped
30g (1 oz) butter
2 cups rice
bubbles / rice krispies
1 cup mini
marshmallows
100’s and
100’s (coloured sprinkles) to decorate
Line a 20cm (8
inch) square cake tin with baking paper.
Roughly chop
the Mars Bars and place them in a small saucepan with the butter. Melt over low heat, stirring constantly.
Combine the
rice bubbles and marshmallows in a large bowl then add the melted chocolate
mix. Stir quickly to coat the dry ingredients with the chocolate but don’t
over-mix as the marshmallows will melt slightly due to the heat of the
chocolate.
Spread over
the base of the cake tin then scatter coloured sprinkles over the top. Place in the fridge to set. Once set, cut the
slice into squares.
Freeze: Place the squares in a plastic container and store in the freezer
Defrost: On
the kitchen bench. Not suitable for the
microwave
Makes 25
squares
Ooh yum! No wonder they're a hit. I made Mars Bar slice for the first time last week. I think Milky Ways would be great to reduce the sweetness a little. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire. Mars Bars are called Milky Ways in the USA so that's why I've written that in the recipe, but I agree, the recipe would be great with the Australian Milky Way bar too.
